How to hide express shipping for heavy orders on Shopify
Express couriers often charge steeply by weight, or don't take heavy parcels at all. If express is still offered on a 25 kg order, you either lose money or have to call the customer.
Can Shopify do this on its own?
Often, yes. If you set your own shipping rates, Shopify lets you add conditions by order weight or price to each rate in Settings → Shipping and delivery. Set the express rate's maximum weight and it won't show above it. That is free and needs no app.
A rule-based app helps when rates come from a carrier or shipping app (where you can't add those conditions), or when the condition is something Shopify rates can't check, such as pincode, product tag or customer tag, or when you want to rename an option.

Things to know

- You can also hide options for listed pincodes, rename them (for example “Standard (5–7 days)”) or move one to the top.

Questions
- Can I hide shipping options for some products only?
- Yes. Use the product tag or collection condition, for example hide express when the cart has a product tagged “fragile”.
- Does it work with carrier-calculated rates?
- Yes. The rule matches options by name, whichever app or carrier provides them.
